Nearing the February 5 roster lock date, Immortals announces two additions to the team: Eric “Ryoya” Dong and Taesung “Velo” Kim.
Eric “Ryoya” Dong is a Boston-born mid laner. An energetic, highly skilled, and consistent player, Ryoya has been in the scene since 2014 but will be looking to make a name for himself as a part of the Immortals roster.
Taesung “Velo” Kim is a familiar face to Febby, DuBu, and MP from their time in the MVP Phoenix house. Having played the last year in Southeast Asia, the offlaner brings new ideas and a fresh perspective
“Ryoya and Velo are both younger talents eager to prove themselves on a bigger stage,” said Dota 2 Team Manager Joshua Arkin. “I’m excited to watch our team grow stronger together as we head into the final roster lock period before The International.”
Both players arrived at the Immortals Compound in Los Angeles on Monday to start work towards The International.
Earlier this month, after much discussion and contemplation Sun Yeob “QO” Kim asked to take an indefinite leave of absence from Immortals and professional Dota 2.
At the core of Immortals is the belief that players are, first and foremost, human beings, and not commodities meant to be drained of their value. Immortals granted QO’s request hoping his time away from the game will renew his spirit and passion, and know QO will one day return to competition stronger than ever.
Additionally, Arif “MSS” Anwar has been released from his contract.
