The Saga: October 17th

This week, all eyes were on Immortals’s trip to the world stage in Wuhan, China.  After a strong Week 1, we were poised to potentially break into the top eight.  Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work out like that.  If you missed Worlds this week, the weekly Saga is here to get you back up to date.

tl;dr: Immortals are disqualified from the World Championship after Week 2 of Groups.
Recommended Match: Immortals v Fnatic

Week 2 of Worlds was heartbreaking for Immortals.  Even though we fought hard, we were unable to pick up the win that we needed to get into the Top 8, and we were eliminated.  While Immortals is heading home, there’s still a lot to admire from this year’s performance.  In Spring, we finished in 7th place, failing to even make North American playoffs.  When we entered summer with Ssong and Xmithie, we weren’t sure how long it would take to find our feet and have the new roster click.  The team immediately took the NA LCS by surprise and contended for 1st-place the entire Split.  We made it to our very first finals in Boston, and then our very first Worlds.  Of course it would have felt better to go even further and claim a spot in quarterfinals, but we’re still beyond proud of the team for putting in the work and making it so far.  We have no doubt next year will be even better.

If you want to commemorate our first trip to Worlds, there’s still time to pick up our 2017 Championship Jersey.  This will be a limited time offer until a week after Worlds ends, so if you want one, now’s the time to act.

If you missed it, be sure to check out our General Manager Nick Phan’s blog on his thoughts on Worlds, Summer, and the jungle swap.

This week’s Saga is short, sweet, and a little sad, but there are plenty of good things on the horizon for Immortals.  Be sure to follow us on Twitter to keep up to date on everything IMT, and our Discord is the perfect place to chat with other fans and IMT staff.
