The Saga: August 8th

Summer is almost coming to a close, and you know what that means: we’re going to see some awesome esports coming up.  While The International is in full swing for those of you who like Dota 2, we’re more interested in Overwatch Contenders Season One, the NA LCS playoffs, and the Vainglory 8.  Right now, our Overwatch team are working hard to prepare for Contenders and the Overwatch League, and our CS:GO squad is resting after their PGL Major run at Krakow.  That doesn’t mean we’re slowing down, though.  Our League and Vainglory team both had an awesome weekend, and if you missed out on those matches, it’s time to treat yourself to the best Immortals games from the last week.

League

tl;dr: Immortals go 2-0 in the last weekend of the regular split! We head straight to the semi-finals of playoffs.
Recommended Match: IMT v Envy Game 2

What a Split it’s been!  We came into the Summer Split as underdogs, but we finished with a 14-4 record.  We still have lots of room for improvement, and we’re going to be working hard to do our best in the semi-finals, but we’re proud of our regular season performance.  Our last week was against Team Envy and Echo Fox, and we didn’t want to underestimate either team, especially since Envy has surprised us before.  Luckily, the #IMTeam followed through, and we ended on a high note.  We’re going to be heading into playoffs, taking on whoever triumphs in the quarterfinal matchup between Dignitas and Cloud9. Continue to lend us your energy!

Vainglory

tl;dr: Immortals overcome TSM 2-0, but fall 0-2 to Cloud9 in the Week 2 semifinals.
Recommended Match: IMT v TSM Game 1

Immortals is continuing to compete in the Vainglory8, and we picked up a strong win over TSM with a 2-0 victory.  We’re not only happy with this victory, but we’re glad we got to give our sub Xelciar some starting time in the VG8, which will help us continue to develop our roster.  We couldn’t carry the momentum from this win into the semifinals for Week 2 against Cloud9, and we ended up falling in a 0-2 defeat.  Every loss is a lesson, and we’ll be continuing to build a strong foundation for success!

This week was relatively quiet, but that’s because we’re working hard and training for the challenges to come.  This month will see Immortals competing in the NA LCS playoffs, Overwatch Contenders Season One, and returning to CS:GO.  Follow us on Twitter to stay up to date on our upcoming matches and be the first to hear new announcements!
